Takayasu's Arteritis: A Rare Cause of Chronic Head And Neck Pain
Abstract
Takayasu's arteritis is a rare vasculitis of unknown etiology, often affecting large vessels. Stenosis and aneurysmal dilatation of the affected vessels are common. The disease often occurs in young women. The clinical manifestations of Takayasu's arteritis are variable. Takayasu arteritis may present with non-specific symptoms such as dizziness, headache, pain in the extremities, cyanosis, and pulselessness due to decreased blood flow in the affected vessels. In this article, we wanted to draw attention to a potentially fatal condition with frequent diagnostic delays and treatment difficulties. We present a case that started with non-specific symptoms and was diagnosed as Takayasu's arteritis based on clinical findings and imaging.
