Madun Karşı-Kamusallığı Bağlamında Türkiye’de Kadınlar, Adalet ve Sosyal Medya

Öz

Bu makale Nancy Fraser’ın (yeniden) dağıtım ve kimlik modeli adalet anlayışlarının tek başlarına yetersiz oldukları iddiasından yola çıkarak geliştirdiği çok boyutlu statü modeli adalet teorisinin ve onunla bağlantılı madun karşı-kamusallığı (subaltern counter publics) kavramlarının Türkiye’deki kadınların adalet arayışlarını anlamlandırmakta açılım sağlayıcı bir teorik perspektif sunduğunu iddia etmektedir. Türkiye’de kadınların adalet arayışında Twitter özelinde sosyal medyanın Fraser’ın madun karşı-kamusallığı kavramına denk düştüğü iddiası ortaya konmakta ve kadınların, adalet arayışında neden madun kategorisinde düşünülebilecekleri ve kendilerini neden bir madun karşı-kamusallığı yaratmak zorunda buldukları incelenmektedir. Ayrıca dünyadan ve Türkiye’den Twitter aracılığıyla yükselen adalet taleplerinden örneklerle tartışma somutlaştırılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada yapılan tartışmanın birkaç önemli hususta katkı sunacağı düşünülmektedir: İlk olarak, kadınların adalet arayışını hem teorik olarak kavramsallaştırmaya çalışmak hem de pratiğinde dile getirilen taleplere kulak kabartmak hem yakın dönem Türkiye siyasetine hem de Türk demokrasinin halihazırdaki durumuna dair epey ipucu içeren verimli bir çalışmadır. İkinci olarak, bu çalışma adaletin tanımının, yeni boyutların eklenmesiyle hep değişebileceği ve aslında değişmesi gerektiği fikrine açık olmak gerektiğine dikkat çekmektedir. Üçüncü olarak, gündelik hayatın pratiğinde yaşanan hızlı değişimlerin, örneğin sosyal medyanın giderek daha fazla yaygınlaşmasının çağdaş siyaset teorisindeki tartışmalarla (adalet tartışması, kamusal alan tartışması, demokrasi/demokratik katılımcılık/yurttaşlık tartışması, toplumsal hareketler ve eylemlilik tartışması gibi) ilintisini belirginleştirerek teori-pratik ayrımına dair bir sorgulamayı davet etmektedir.

Women, Social Media and the Quest for Justıce in Turkey as a Case for Subaltern Counter-Publics

Öz

This article argues that the status model that Nancy Fraser proposes as an alternative to the redistributive and identity models of justice and the related notion of subaltern counter-publics provide a convenient theoretical perspective to analyze the women’s movement’s quest for justice in Turkey. It suggests that the increasing tendency on the part of the women to turn increasingly towards the social media for this quest can be contextualized within the notion of subaltern counter public and discusses the reasons why women in Turkey can be considered as a subaltern group in need of creating an alternative/counter public sphere. Several social media campaigns from the world and Turkey are used as the occasions where these theoretical claims manifest themselves. The possible contribution of this article is threefold: First, it shows that an effort to conceptualize the women’s quest for justice with the help of the debates in contemporary political theory and an attentiveness to the demands that are voiced within the practicality of the women’s movement in Turkey has much to say about the current status of Turkish political life as to the level of (de)democratization. Second, it underlines that what justice means, both theoretically and practically is always open to be re-thought and re-formulated. Third, it shows that there is a direct connection between the changing dynamics of the social and political life (the increasing significance of the social media being an example) on the one hand, and the changing definitions of the key concepts of sociopolitical life (for instance justice, public sphere, democracy, democratization, citizenship, social movements, political action among others); and hence that the theory/practice dichotomy is also open to be challenged.
