PSYCHOSOCIAL CARE COMPETENCIES OF NURSES AND INFLUENCING FACTORS

Öz

Introduction: Psychosocial care helps patients and families cope with illness, reduces psychiatric symptoms in patients and families, ensures effective treatment, and improves quality of life. Purpose: This descriptive study aims to determine nurses' psychosocial care competencies and the influencing factors. Method: Study data were obtained using the "Sociodemographic Characteristics Form," "Psychosocial Care Form," and "Psychosocial Care Competency Self-Assessment Scale (PBSC). Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, and ANOVA analysis of variance were used to analyze the data. Results: The mean age of the nurses was 30.00±6.89 years. 58.2% of the nurses participating in the study believed that psychosocial care was necessary to provide holistic care. The study determined that 93.3% of the nurses believed that patients should be evaluated from a psychosocial perspective, and 59.6% evaluated the patients they care for from a psychosocial perspective. 76.4% of the nurses stated that a consultation-liaison psychiatric nurse is needed to provide psychosocial care. The nurses' mean score on the total PBSC was 60.07±11.11. The total PBSCQ scores of nurses who expressed satisfaction with their department were significantly higher than those who expressed dissatisfaction with their department. The total PBSCQ scores of nurses who believed psychosocial care was effective in patient treatment were significantly higher than those who believed psychosocial care was ineffective in patient treatment (p<0.05). Conclusion: Nurses with low psychosocial care competence should receive in-service training on psychosocial care to increase their knowledge and competence. Consultation-liaison psychiatric nurses should provide support and standardized practices for psychosocial care in healthcare institutions and organizations.

HEMŞİRELERİN PSİKOSOSYAL BAKIM YETERLİLİKLERİ VE ETKİLEYEN FAKTÖRLER

Öz

Giriş: Psikososyal bakım hasta ve ailenin hastalıkla baş etmesine, hasta ve ailesinde görülen psikiyatrik semptomların azalmasına, tedavinin etkili olmasına ve yaşam kalitesini artmasına yardımcı olur. Amaç: Tanımlayıcı tipte olan bu çalışmanın amacı hemşirelerin psikososyal bakım yeterliliklerini ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemektir. Yöntem: Araştırmanın verileri, “Sosyodemografik Özellikler Formu”, “Psikososyal Bakım ile İlgili Form” ve “Psikososyal Bakım Yetkinliği Öz Değerlendirme Ölçeği (PBYÖDÖ)’ile elde edilmiştir. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde tanımlayıcı istatistikler, bağımsız gruplarda t testi ve ANOVA Varyans analizi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Hemşirelerin yaş ortalama 30.00±6.89 yıldır. Araştırmaya katılan hemşirelerin %58.2’sinin psikososyal bakımın bütüncül bakım sağlamak için gerekli olduğunu düşünmektedir. Araştırmada hemşirelerin; %93.3’ünün hastaların psikososyal açıdan değerlendirilmesi gerektiği düşündüğü ve %59.6’sının bakım verdiği hastayı psikososyal açıdan değerlendirdiği belirlenmiştir. Hemşirelerin %76.4’ünün psikososyal bakım vermek için konsültasyon liyezon psikiyatri hemşiresine ihtiyaç olduğunu belirtmiştir. Hemşirelerin PBYÖDÖ toplamından ortalama 60,07±11,11’dir. Çalıştığı bölümden memnun olduğunu ifade eden PBYÖDÖ toplam puanı çalıştığı bölümden memnun olmadığını ifade eden hemşirelere göre anlamlı düzeyde daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır. Psikososyal bakımın hastaların tedavisinde etkili olduğu düşünen hemşirelerin PBYÖDÖ toplam puanı psikososyal bakımın hastaların tedavisinde etkili olmadığını düşünen hemşirelere göre anlamlı düzeyde daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Sonuç: Psikososyal bakım yetkinliği düşük hemşirelerin psikososyal bakım konusunda hizmet içi eğitimler uygulanarak bilgi ve yetkinlikleri artırılmalıdır. Sağlık kurum ve kuruluşlarda psikosyal bakım için konsültasyon liyezon psikiyatri hemşirelerinin destek vermesi ve standart uygulamaların olması önerilmektedir.
