Cultural Heritage and Legal Framework in Adaptive Reuse: A Study on Hotel Gütsch Bold

Öz

This study evaluates the adaptive reuse of the historical Château Gütsch in Lucerne, Switzerland, as a hotel, within the framework of the Lucerne Cantonal Cultural Heritage Protection Law (DSchG, 2014), the Swiss Federal Law on the Protection of Nature and Cultural Heritage (NCHA, 1966), and international principles by UNESCO and ICOMOS. Using a qualitative research method, relevant legal documents were analyzed and compared with the physical interventions, spatial organization, and safety-comfort standards applied to the building. The findings reveal that façade integrity and spatial layout have been preserved, and modern systems were integrated without damaging the historical character. However, some interior interventions conflict with principles such as authenticity and reversibility, and user-focused elements like accessibility remain partially insufficient. The study highlights the importance of balancing conservation and functionality in the reuse of cultural heritage buildings.

Yeniden İşlevlendirme Sürecinde Kültürel Miras ve Yasal Çerçeve: Hotel Gütsch Üzerine Bir İnceleme

Öz

Bu çalışma, İsviçre’nin Luzern kentinde yer alan tarihi Château Gütsch yapısının otel işlevine dönüştürülme sürecini, Luzern Kantonu Kültür Varlıklarını Koruma Yasası (DSchG, 2014), İsviçre Federal NCHA (1966) ve UNESCO ile ICOMOS’un uluslararası ilkeleri doğrultusunda değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Nitel araştırma yöntemine dayanan çalışmada, belge analizi yoluyla ilgili yasal metinler incelenmiş ve yapıdaki fiziksel müdahaleler, mekânsal kurgular ile konfor ve güvenlik unsurları koruma ilkeleriyle karşılaştırılmıştır. Bulgular, cephe bütünlüğü ve plan organizasyonunun korunduğunu; teknik donatıların tarihî dokuya zarar vermeden entegre edildiğini göstermektedir. Ancak iç mekândaki bazı müdahalelerin özgünlük ve geri dönüşümlü müdahale ilkeleriyle çeliştiği, erişilebilirlik gibi kullanıcı odaklı unsurlarda eksiklikler olduğu görülmüştür. Sonuç olarak, çalışma kültürel miras yapılarında işlevsellik ve koruma arasında hassas bir dengenin gerekliliğine dikkat çekmektedir. Ayrıca Türkiye’deki benzer yeniden işlevlendirme örnekleri de kültürel mirasın korunması ve çağdaş kullanıma uyarlanması açısından benzer bir önem taşımaktadır
