Evliya Çelebi presents Köroğlu as a minstrel of chogur. Some
researchers describe Köroğlu whom they position to 16th century, as a military
minstrel who took part in Özdemiroğlu Osman Pasha’s Iran campaign based on his
two poems. Due to his life story mistakes for Köroğlu, epic and folk hero, it
is seen that poems, published by connecting to the name of Köroğlu about whose
real identity and poems cannot be judged, are not quite different from those in
epic and folk story, and are built upon similar thoughts and subjects. Either
he was regarded as a seperate the stringed “saz” (instrument) minstrel or an
epic and folk story hero, it is seen that the “saz” (instrument) and the word
have an important role in going into action in Köroğlu’s struggle. This role of
the “saz” (instrument) and the word is also seen in Pir Sultan Abdal who is
symbol name of rebellion of Kizilbash Turcomen, and in the saz minstrels who
make enthusiastic Jelali rebelliouses by playing “şeştar”.
In the study, by drawing attention to the fact that the
“saz” (instrument) and word have an important role for Köroğlu whom was
presented as chogur minstrel by Evliya Çelebi, in going into action, we dwelt
upon effects of negative points of view for the saz minstrels who played
musical instruments, such as ‘‘çöğür’’ and ‘‘şeştar’’, in the characterizations
by central and local authorities of Ottoman Period that described the saz
(instrument) minstrels, such as Köroğlu, as bandit. The study revealed once
more again that central and local authorities saw the saz and the word, put it
differently, the saz minstrels as an important provocative element of rebellion
seasons, and, because of this, they paid particular attention to the saz
(instrument) minstrels who provocated the bandit or make them enthusiastic, in
their struggle against the bandit.
Evliya
Çelebi, Köroğlu’yu bir çöğür şairi olarak takdim eder. Kimi araştırıcılar, 16.
yüzyıla bağladıkları Köroğlu’yu iki şiirinden yola çıkarak Özdemiroğlu Osman
Paşa’nın İran seferine katılan bir ordu şairi olarak nitelendirirler. Hayat
hikâyesinin destan ve halk hikâyesi kahramanı Köroğlu ile karıştırılması
nedeniyle gerçek kimliği ve şiirleri hakkında kesin hükümler verilemeyen
Köroğlu adına bağlanarak yayımlanan şiirlerin destan ve halk hikâyesindeki
şiirlerden pek farklı olmadığı, benzer düşünce ve konular üzerine kurulduğu görülmektedir.
İster müstakil bir saz şairi, ister bir destan ve halk hikâyesi kahramanı
olarak görülsün, Köroğlu’nun mücadelesinde saz ile sözün eyleme geçişte önemli
bir yere sahip olduğu görülmektedir. Saz ile sözün bu rolü, Kızılbaş Türkmen
isyanının simge ismi Pir Sultan Abdal ile Celali isyancılarını “şeştar” çalarak
şevke getiren saz şairlerinde de görülmektedir.
