MCLUHAN’IN MEDYA EKOLOJİSİ BAĞLAMINDA BLOGLAR: DİZÜSTÜ EDEBİYAT İLE “GERİ DÖNÜŞ” ETKİSİ

WEBLOGS IN THE CONTEXT OF MEDIA ECOLOGY APPROACH OF MCLUHAN: “REVERSE INTO” EFFECT WITH THE LAPTOP LITERATURE

Yıl 2018, Cilt: 26 Sayı: 3, 170 - 178, 01.10.2018

The concept of media ecology, is a media study asserting that ever-developing technologies and techniques in information models and communication codes play a primary role in the formation of human relations Odyakmaz, 2005, s.183 . Developments in information technology have enabled the chage and transformation in mass and individual forms of communication. This change and transformation brings to mind the notion of a Four Effects or Tetrad laid by Mc Luhan. While examining a media using the media ecology approach of McLuhan, these questions are expected to be answered: • What does the medium enhance, intensify or make possible or accelerate? • What is made obsolete or pushed aside by the new medium? • What older, obsolete mediums is brought back by the new medium? • When pushed to the limits of its potential, what earlier form does the new medium reverse into? WeBlogs are examined in this context and the results obtained are evaluated within the frame of McLuhan’s Four Effects or Tetrad approach. Although McLuhan suggests that there is no any specific way to read the tetrad as they emerge simultaneously, “Laptop Literature” publications are examined in the scope of “reverse into” process which is placed on the final point of the study
