MALAYSIA’S SOUTH CHINA SEA STRATEGY AND MAHATHIR DOCTRINE
Abstract
This study focuses on the South China Sea which is one of the hottest areas of conflict in the world, and examines the Mahathir doctrine created by Malaysia for the peaceful resolution of conflicts in this region. For this purpose, from general to special metod was followed in this study. First The South China Sea region was identified, and then the causes and sides of the conflict in the region were addressed. Finally, the scope of the Mahathir doctrine was explained. The likely development of this doctrine, which is a preventive solution to the potential of conflict in the region, in the light of current developments, is discussed in the conclusion section. The supporting policies of Malaysia in this direction are also included in the same section.
