Öz

Developmental Counseling and Therapy is one of the approaches that attracts increasing attention in the world today in the field of psychological counseling. In this approach, which was inspired by Socrates and Piaget, the concept of cognitive styles comes to the fore. Developmental Counseling and Therapy is an approach that helps in understanding the concept of cognitive styles and the way the client perceives himself and the world in the counseling process and in making appropriate interventions. Emphasizing the helping style used by the counselor in addition to the client's developmental style in the counseling process, it makes significant contributions to the counseling process with the concepts of horizontal and vertical development. Developmental Counseling and Therapy is an approach with proven effectiveness in different areas such as both adult and child counseling process and school counseling process. Therefore, in this study, cognitive styles were introduced by considering the theoretical background of Developmental Counseling and Therapy, and examples for clients using these styles were given. In addition, the approach's view of human nature and different cognitive styles in the therapeutic process and appropriate interventions are discussed by giving examples and relevant researches are included. In this study, which was created by reviewing the literature, it was aimed to include practical information for practitioners in the psychological counseling.

Gelişimsel Psikolojik Danışma ve Terapi: Bilişsel Stillerin Psikolojik Danışmada Kullanımı

Öz

Gelişimsel Psikolojik Danışma ve Terapi (GPDT), günümüzde psikolojik danışma alanında dünyada giderek ilgi gören yaklaşımlardan biridir. Temelleri Sokrates ve Piaget’den esinlenerek oluşturulan bu yaklaşımda, bilişsel stiller kavramı ön plana çıkmaktadır. GPDT, bilişsel stiller kavramı ile psikolojik danışma sürecinde danışanın kendini ve dünyayı algılayış şeklini kavramada ve ona uygun müdahalelerde bulunmada yardımcı bir yaklaşımdır. Psikolojik danışma sürecinde danışanın gelişimsel stilinin yanında psikolojik danışmanın kullandığı yardım etme stilini de vurgu yaparak yatay ve dikey gelişim kavramlarıyla psikolojik danışma sürecine önemli katkılarda bulunmaktadır. GPDT, hem yetişkin, çocuk psikolojik danışma süreci hem de okul psikolojik danışma süreci gibi farklı alanlarda etkililiği kanıtlanmış bir yaklaşımdır. Bu nedenle bu çalışmada, GPDT’nin teorik alt yapısı ele alınarak, bilişsel stiller tanıtılmış, bu stilleri kullanan danışanlara yönelik örnekler verilmiştir. Ayrıca yaklaşımın insan doğasına bakışı ve terapötik süreçte farklı bilişsel stiller ve buna uygun müdahaleler örnekler verilerek ele alınmış ve ilgili araştırmalara yer verilmiştir. Alan yazın taraması yapılarak oluşturulan bu çalışmada psikolojik danışma sürecinde uygulamacılara yönelik pratik bilgilere yer verilmesi amaçlanmıştır.
