Gerçek İskelet Modellerinin Anatomi Teorik Ve Pratik Derslerinde Kullanımının Veteriner Fakültesi Öğrencilerin Öğrenimi Üzerine Etkilerinin Araştırılması

Öz

Veteriner anatomi eğitiminde teknolojik gelişmeler de göz önüne alınarak bilgisayar destekli simülasyon ve plastik modeller gibi modern ve alternatif eğitim araçlarının kullanımı yaygın hale gelmiştir. Ancak bu alternatif eğitim araçları anatomi eğitimi sırasında canlı vücudundaki gerçek detayları ya da olası varyasyonları göstermeleri açısından tek başlarına yeterli olmamaktadır. Bu çalışmada geleneksel eğitim araçlarından olan gerçek iskelet modellerinin öğrencilerin öğrenimleri üzerine etkisini inceledik. Çalışmamızda Mehmet Akif Ersoy Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi Anatomi Anabilim Dalı’ndan temin edilen gerçek iskelet modelleri Anatomi I dersinde Lokomotor Sistem konularında uygulama derslerinde kullanıldı. Modellerin etkinliğini ve öğrenci beklentilerini ölçmek için 32 maddeden oluşan Likert tipi tutum ölçeği geliştirildi. Ölçekteki maddeler “motivasyon”, “öğrenme-anlama” ve “gelecekte bilgiyi kullanma” boyutları olarak alt gruplara ayrılarak değerlendirildi. Tutum ölçeği 2014-2015 ve 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim dönemi öğrencilerine uygulandı. Elde edilen veriler SPSS 13.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) kullanılarak çözümlendi. Verilerin analizinde aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma ve bağımsız gruplar t testi uygulandı. Ölçek sonuçlarında “motivasyon” boyutunda yer alan toplam 11 görüşün tutum puanlarının tamamının aritmetik ortalamasının 4,32 olduğu görüldü. “Öğrenme-anlama” boyutunda yer alan toplam 16 görüşün tutum puanlarının tamamının aritmetik ortalaması ise 4,47 olarak bulundu. Değerler, öğrencilerin modern eğitim araçlarının yanında geleneksel bir eğitim aracı olan gerçek iskeletlerin de kullanılmasını istediklerini ve kullanılan bu modellerin “motivasyon” ve “öğrenme-anlama” boyutunda faydalı olduğunu düşündükleri şeklinde yorumlandı. “Gelecekte bilgiyi kullanma” boyutuna ilişkin toplam 5 görüşün aritmetik ortalaması sırasıyla 4,26’dır. Sonuçlar öğrencilerin eğitim sürecinde kullanılan gerçek iskelet modelleri ile öğrendiklerini daha iyi ve etkili aktarabileceklerini düşündüklerini göstermektedir. Sonuç olarak, plastik modeller ve bilgisayar destekli simülasyonlar gibi modern eğitim araçları, geleneksel eğitim araçlarının yanında alternatif olabilirler. Ancak bu eğitim araçları hayvan kadavralarından elde edilmiş gerçek materyaller kadar varyasyon ve detayları yansıtmadığından, bunları tek başına etkin bir eğitim aracı olarak değerlendirmek doğru değildir. Bundan dolayı modern eğitim araçlarının yanında gerçek iskelet modelleri gibi canlı hayvandan elde edilmiş geleneksel eğitim araçları Anatomi eğitiminde kendine her zaman yer bulacaktır.

Investigating The Effects of Veterinary Medicine Students’ Learning By Using The Real Skeleton Models on Anatomy Theorical and Practical Lessons

Öz

Considering the technological evolution, using modern and alternative approaches like simulation based computer tecnologies or plastic anatomical models in teaching veterinary medicine is become widespread. But these alternative approaches are not enough to indicate the realistic details or possible variations on the living being. This study evaluated the effect of using real skeleton models on the students’ learning motivation.In this study, real skeleton models produced by Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Anatomy Department were used at Anatomy I courses. To measure expectations of the students, Likert-type attitude scale of 32 questions were developed. The Rubrics for attitude scale’s sub-groups were allocated as “motivation", "learning-understanding", and "using the information in the future”. The Attitude scale was applied to the students who were studying in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 academic period. The data was analyzed using SPSS 13.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences), which included arithmetic mean, standard deviation and independent groups t- test.The “motivation” scale had 11 questions and the average score was 4,32. The “learning- understanding” scale had 16 questions and the average score was 4.47. The findings in the “motivation” and “learning-understanding” scale showed that students preferred and found useful the use of real skeleton models in their learning. The “using information in the future” scale had 5 questions. Its data produced an average of 4,26. The findings of the “Using the information in the future” showed that the students learned better and retained the information longer when real skeleton models were used as a tool in their trainings.In conclusion, plastic anatomical models and computer based simulations could be an alternative educational tools along with the traditional approaches like real skeleton models. However, the use of plastic anatomical models or computer based simulations as an educational tool would not be as effective if it used alone due to lack of variations and details. Fort this reason modern approaches should use with traditional tools on anatomy education.
