Parasite Fauna of Acanthobrama marmid (Heckel, 1843) (Actinopterygii: Leuciscidae) from Karakaya Dam Lake, Euphrates River, Türkiye

Öz

This study evaluated the parasitic fauna of Acanthobrama marmid living in Karakaya Dam Lake (Euphrates River Basin, Türkiye), including species diversity, infection patterns, and potential effects on host condition. A total of 48 fish were examined using standard parasitological methods, and their infection parameters were determined. Fourteen parasite species belonging to seven taxa were identified, with the highest species diversity recorded within Digenea, followed by Monogenea and Cestoda. Despite the high overall infection rate (97.92%), the absence of a significant relationship between total parasite load and the condition factor suggests that this host species may exhibit a high tolerance to parasitic infections. Parasites of the class Cestoda appeared to exert a more pronounced effect on the Fulton condition factor compared to other groups.

Karakaya Baraj Gölü’ndeki Acanthobrama marmid (Heckel, 1843) (Actinopterygii: Leuciscidae)’in Parazit Faunasının Belirlenmesi, Fırat Nehri, Türkiye

Öz

Bu çalışma, Karakaya Baraj Gölü’nde (Fırat Nehri havzası, Türkiye) yaşayan Acanthobrama marmid’in parazit faunasını; tür çeşitliliği, enfeksiyon durumu ve konak kondisyonu üzerindeki olası etkileri açısından değerlendirmiştir. Standart parazitolojik yöntemler kullanılarak toplam 48 balık incelenmiş ve enfeksiyon parametreleri belirlenmiştir. Yedi taksona ait toplam 14 parazit türü tespit edilmiş olup, en yüksek tür çeşitliliği Digenea grubunda kaydedilmiş, bunu Monogenea ve Cestoda izlemiştir. Yüksek genel enfeksiyon oranına (%97.92) rağmen toplam parazit yükü ile kondisyon faktörü arasında anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmamıştır. Cestoda sınıfına ait parazitlerin, diğer gruplara kıyasla Fulton kondisyon faktörü üzerinde daha belirgin bir etki gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Bu durum, söz konusu konak türünün parazitik enfeksiyonlara karşı yüksek düzeyde tolerans gösterebileceğini düşündürmektedir.
