The Future Of Career: Green Career

Öz

The green economy is expected to create around 24 million new green jobs by 2030. Green jobs are thought to be a solution to the global unemployment problem. In the study, it is aimed to recognize new employment areas and skills through green career examples and to use the research findings as a roadmap for people who want to have a green career. Green career examples were subjected to content analysis with MaxQDA qualitative data analysis program. In the study, they were grouped and coded in six main themes as "department", "employment areas", "education levels", "interests", "projects/activities" and "contributions to the individual". It was found that the majority of green careers were graduates of electrical-electronics, civil, mechanical and chemical engineering departments and preferred academic careers. Although they are predominantly PhD and master's graduates, it is seen that their interests are in line with the content and scope of their green jobs. Sustainability, climate change, waste management, sustainable development and renewable energy are prominent areas of interest. It is seen that the contributions of green careers to individuals are gaining new skills, project management and teamwork competencies, discovering oneself and different fields, gaining different perspectives by increasing awareness, networking, increasing collaborations and gaining experience in the field.

Kariyerin Geleceği : Yeşil Kariyer

Öz

Yeşil ekonominin 2030’a kadar yaklaşık 24 milyon yeni yeşil iş yaratması beklenmektedir. Yeşil işlerin küresel işsizlik sorununa çözüm olacağı düşünülmektedir. Çalışmada, yeşil kariyer örnekleri üzerinden yeni istihdam alanlarının ve becerilerin tanınması ve araştırma bulgularının yeşil kariyer sahibi olmak isteyen kişilere yol haritası olması amaçlanmıştır. Yeşil kariyer örnekleri, MaxQDA nitel veri analizi programıyla içerik analizine tabi tutulmuştur. Çalışmada, “bölüm”, “istihdam alanları” “eğitim düzeyleri”, “ilgi alanları”, “proje/etkinlikler” ve “bireye katkıları” şeklinde altı ana temada gruplandırılmış ve kodlanmıştır. Yeşil kariyerlerin çoğunluğunun elektrik-elektronik, inşaat, makina ve kimya mühendisliği bölümü mezunu ve akademik kariyer tercih ettikleri tespit edilmiştir. Doktora ve yüksek lisans mezunu ağırlıklı olmakla birlikte, ilgi alanlarının yeşil işlerin içeriği ve kapsamına paralellik gösterdiği görülmektedir. Sürdürülebilirlik, iklim değişikliği, atık yönetimi, sürdürülebilir kalkınma ve yenilenebilir enerji öne çıkan ilgi alanlarıdır. Yeşil kariyerin bireylere katkılarının yeni beceriler kazanma, proje yönetimi ve takım çalışması yetkinlikleri, kendini ve farklı alanları keşfetme, bilinçlenme ve farkındalığın artarak farklı bakış açıları elde etme, network oluşturma, işbirliklerini arttırma ve alanla ilgili deneyim kazanma olduğu görülmektedir.
