Effects of PMSG application time on fertility in estrus-synchronized Kilis goat lambs out of season

Since their reproduction is seasonal, goat lambs can not mate before the breeding season begins, even if they have reached breeding maturity. This situation leads to economic losses for farmers. Estrus synchronization with progesterone and PMSG combination is widely practiced to produce off-season heat. However, different applications are made regarding the dose and timing of PMSG. In the study, the effects of PMSG (500 IU) administration at two different times on estrus and pregnancy rates and the number of offspring were investigated in estrus-synchronized goat lambs. Twenty three kilis goat lambs 13-15 months old that had never mated before were treated (out of season) with a progesterone sponge (20 mg flugestone acetate) for 11 days and 250 mcg PGF2α two days before sponge removal. While PMSG was applied to lambs in group 1 (n:11, hour -48 group) two days before sponge removal, it was applied to lambs in group 2 (n:12, hour 0 group) on the day of sponge removal. Goat lambs standing to be mounted were considered in estrus and mated. All goats in both groups showed estrus. The pregnancy (lambing) rate (54.6% vs. 25.0%, respectively, P>0.05) and total number of offspring (7 vs. 3, respectively, P>0.05) of the 1. (hour -48) group were found numerically higher than the 2. (hour 0) group, but the differences between groups were not statistically significant. Considering the economic values of numerical increase in the pregnancy rate and the total number of offspring, it was concluded that it may be more beneficial to apply PMSG 48 hours before the sponge removal rather than at the time of sponge withdrawal out of the breeding season in Kilis goat lambs.

Mevsim dışında östrus senkronizasyonu uygulanmış kilis çebiçlerinde eCG uygulama zamanının fertilite üzerindeki etkileri

Üremeleri mevsime bağlı olduğundan genç keçiler yetiştirme olgunluğuna erişmiş olsalar bile aşım mevsimi başlamadan çiftleşemezler. Bu durum yetiştiriciler açısından maddi zarar oluşturmaktadır. Mevsim dışında kızgınlık oluşturmak için, progesteron ve PMSG kombinasyonu ile östrus senkronizasyonu yaygın olarak uygulanmaktadır. Ancak PMSG'nin dozu ve zamanlaması konusunda farklı uygulamalar yapılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, östrus senkronizasyonu uygulanan keçi kuzularında iki farklı zamanda PMSG (500 IU) uygulamasının östrus ve gebelik oranları ile yavru sayıları üzerindeki etkileri araştırılmıştır. Daha önce hiç çiftleşmemiş olan 13-15 aylık 23 genç kilis keçisine, üreme sezonu dışında, 11 gün süre ile progesteron süngerler (20 mg flugestone acetate) ve sünger uzaklaştırılmasından 2 gün önce 250 mcg PGF2α uygulandı. PMSG; 1. gruptaki kuzulara (n:11, -48. saat grubu) sünger uzaklaştırılmasından 2 gün önce uygulanırken, 2. gruptaki kuzulara (n:12, 0. saat grubu) sünger uzaklaştırma gününde uygulandı. Erkeğin atlamasına izin veren keçiler östrusta olarak kabul edildi ve çiftleştirildi. Her iki gruptaki tüm keçiler östrus gösterdi. Birinci (-48. saat) grubun gebelik (kuzulama) oranı (sırasıyla %54,6 ve %25.0, P>0.05) ve toplam yavru sayısı (sırasıyla 7 ve 3, P>0.05) ikinci (0. saat) gruptan sayısal olarak daha yüksek bulundu, ancak gruplar arasındaki farklılıklar istatistiksel olarak önemsiz bulundu. Çalışmadan; gebelik oranı ve toplam yavru sayısındaki sayısal artışın ekonomik değerleri göz önüne alındığında, genç Kilis keçilerinde üreme mevsimi dışında, PMSG'nin sünger uzaklaştırılma zamanından ziyade, sünger çıkarılmasından 48 saat önce uygulanmasının daha faydalı olabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.
