ABEZEK: ŞİİRSEL BİR KOREOGRAFİ

Karachays are the only Turkish-speaking group in the society that had migrated from the Northern Caucasian Region to Anatolia. It is interesting to notice that even though they speak a dialect of Turkish, their dancing traditions resemble those of Adiges, their Caucasian neighbors, instead of the Turks. Dancing is one of the important social dynamics for Northern Caucasian people today as it was in the past. “TsoppaY” which is the dance of poly-theical periods has been given various names until today and now it is known as “Wuic” among the Adige community and called “Abezek” among Karachays. The communities of Northern Caucasian region are referred to as the society of “Khabze”. “Khabze” is a collection of unwritten norms passed from the grandfather or grandmother arranging the social relations and incorporating strong sanctions. These norms strongly influence the dance as well. If we examine the historical, cultural and mythological background, we can read the invisible aspects of the Karachay dances better and understand how “Khabze” turns to visible actions through dances. Most of Caucasian dances in question are refined productions of the Russian art of choreography as professionally mixed with “Khabze” and mythology, that is, the myths and local dancing heritage. The preferential target of this article is not about the professional dance groups but it aims at explaining the dancing tradition and its poetry still living among the Karachay community settled in Anatolia. This study would like to explain the dancing ceremony during the Karachay festival that had been participated at Eskişehir-Yazılıkaya, July, 1998.

Karaçaylılar Kuzey Kafkasya’dan Anadolu’ya göçen topluluklar arasında Türkçe konuşan tek etnik gruptur. İlginçtir ki Türkçenin bir şivesini kullanmalarına rağmen, onların dans gelenekleri Türklere değil Kafkasyalı komşuları Adigeler’e benzemektedir. Kuzey Kafkasyalılar için dans etmek geçmişte olduğu gibi günümüzde de önemli bir sosyal dinamiktir. Çok tanrılı dönemlerin “Tsoppay” dansı günümüze kadar değişik isimlerle süregelmiş, Adige topluluklarında “Wuic” Karaçay toplumunda ise “Abezek” olarak bilinmiştir. Kuzey Kafkasyalı halklar “Khabze” toplumu olarak anılırlar. “Kabze” toplumdaki sosyal ilişkileri düzenleyen yazısız normlardır ve yaptırımları çok güçlüdür. Bu normlar dansta da kendisini hissettirir. Tarihsel, kültürel ve mitolojik arka planı incelersek Karaçay danslarının gözle görünmeyen yanlarını daha iyi okuyabilir, “Khabze”nin danslar yoluyla nasıl görünebilir hareketler düzlemine çıktığını anlayabiliriz. Günümüzde birçok Kafkas dansı “Khabze”, mitoloji, efsane ve yerel dans mirasının Rus koreografi sanatı ile ustaca harmanlanmasından oluşmuş cilalı ürünlerdir. Bu yazının öncelikli amacı profesyonel dans grupları değil Anadolu’ya yerleşen Karaçay halkında yaşayan dans geleneğini ve bu dansların şiirselliğini anlatmaktır. Bu çalışma Temmuz 1998 de Eskişehir- Yazılıkaya’da gözlemlenen Karaçay şenliğinde yer alan dans seremonisini açıklamaktadır
