TÜRK DÜŞÜNÜNDE YERSİZ YURTSUZ BİR YALNIZLIK: NİYAZİ BERKES

The main purpose of this paper is to examine the contributions of Cyprus-born Niyazi Berkes to the Turkish Idea regarding his basic thoughts and ideas as one of the most important intellectual of Turkey. To reach this purpose, firstly an overall description of his life in line with the happenings causing his leaving Turkey for good will be reviewed; then his intellectual style of thoughts, ideas and understandings will be emphasized. Later on, his contributions to the Turkish Idea will be examined in summary. At last, a final evaluation regarding the main issue will try to put an end at the paper.

Bu çalışmanın ana amacı, Türkiye’nin yetiştirdiği önemli düşün insanlarından biri olan Kıbrıslı Niyazi Berkes’in Türk Düşün Hayatı’na katkılarını, onun temel görüşleri bağlamında irdelemektir. Bu amaca varmak için, ilk önce Türkiye’yi terk etmesine neden olan gelişmeler çerçevesinde yaşam özeti, sonrasında ise onun düşünce biçimine değinilmeyi müteakip, Türk Düşün Hayatı’na katkıları özetle incelenecek, müteakiben nihai bir değerlendirmede bulunulacaktır.
