M Turhan Tan is well-known for the novels that he wrote in 1928-1 939. So as not to betray the history, the writer adheres to historical facts as mııch as possible. With these aspects, the historical novels written by the writer present a richness that rejlect the life, view of life, beli(!(, traditions and cııstoms of the era and the society that he wrote aboııt. fn this article, wedding ceremonies told in historical Tıırkish novels of Turhan Tan were evaluated in terms of invitation ta the wedding, date and place of wedding, entertainments and performances presented in the wedding, ojfered presents and wedding food. The fact that the coıırse of political, social, cultııral and economic degeneration observed in the society throııghoııt history was parallel in terms of wedding  ceremonies mentioned in the analyzed novel was a striking outcome.

M. Turhan Tan'ın Tarihi Türk Romanlarında Düğün Merasimleri

M. Turhan Tan, 1 928- 1 939 yılları arasında kaleme aldığı tarihi romanlarıyla adından söz ettirir. Yazar, tarihe ihanet etmeme adına tarihi gerçeklere olabildiğince bağlı kalır. Bu yönüyle yazarın kaleme aldığı tarihi romanlar, konu edindiği dönemin ve o dönem toplumunun yaşayışını, hayata bakışını, inanışını, gelenek-göreneklerini, örf ve adetlerini yansıtan zengin bir görünüm sunar. Bu yazıda Turhan Tan'ın tarihi Türk romanlarında anlatılan düğün merasimleri, düğüne davet, düğün zamanı ve mekanı, düğünde düzenlenen eğlenceler ve gösteriler, takdim edilen hediyeler ve düğün sofrası açısından

değerlendirilmiştir. Tarihi süreç içerisinde toplumda görülen siyasi, sosyal, kültürel, ekonomik yozlaşma seyrinin, incelenen romanlardaki düğün merasimleri açısından da paralellik taşıması dikkat çekici bir sonuçtur.
