Research Trends in Digital Financial Literacy: A Bibliometric Analysis (2015–2025)

Öz

This study provides a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the development of scientific output on digital financial literacy between 2015 and 2025. The rapid expansion of digital financial services has made digital knowledge, skills, and security awareness essential elements of individuals’ financial decision-making processes. Within this framework, digital financial literacy emerges as a multidimensional competency that influences financial behavior, savings tendencies, risk perception, and engagement in the digital financial ecosystem. The Web of Science Core Collection served as the primary data source, and a broad search strategy was implemented to capture studies related to financial literacy, digital financial literacy, digital learning, digital finance, fintech, and risk awareness. The dataset included only English-language research articles, review papers, and early-access publications. Bibliometric analyses were conducted using the RStudio Biblioshiny interface. The study explored publication growth, prolific authors, leading institutions, influential countries, highly cited works, and patterns of international collaboration. Additionally, keyword co-occurrence networks and thematic clusters were analyzed to identify intellectual structures within the field. The findings show that research on digital financial literacy has expanded significantly since 2020, driven by accelerated digitalization, increased adoption of fintech applications, and the broader technological transformation of financial services. The results also indicate that traditional financial literacy continues to serve as the conceptual foundation of the field, while financial inclusion, technology adoption, and user behavior have become prominent thematic priorities.
