Effect of Case Study Method on Academic Achievement, Remembering and Metacognitive Skills With Regard to “A Voyage to Inner Structure of the Living Thing” Unit of Science Lesson
Öz
The method of case study is a tool for effective science teaching includes the events
from life and the problems we meet. The purpose of this study is to investigate if case study
method in teaching of “A voyage to inner structure of the living things” is effective on the
progression of success, remembering and metacognitive skills. The achievement test and
skill test administered to the experiment and control groups before the practice as a pre-test.
The lecture was taught to the experiment group using with the method of case study by the
researcher. The lecture taught to the control group with traditional method by the researcher.
At the end of this study the achievement test and skill test administered to the experiment and
control group as a post-test. To learn the effectiveness of the case studies on remembering,
the achievement test which the questions has been placed differently administered again
after 10 weeks as a remembering test. The result of the data analyzed with the program of
SPSS. The result of study is anberaumened positive effect to achievement, metacognitive
skills and remembering for case studies.
