Yetişkinlerde Sosyal İlişki Gereksinimi ve Sosyal Medya Kullanımı İlişkisi

Öz

Sosyal medya kullanımı giderek yaygınlaşmaktadır. Bu durumun nedeni sosyal ilişki gereksinimi olabilir. Türkçe alan yazında sosyal ilişki gereksinimi konusunda yapılan çalışmaların sınırlı olduğu görülmektedir. Yetişkinlerde sosyal ilişki gereksinimi ile sosyal medya kullanımı arasındaki ilişkiyi ve etkileşimi konu alan bu çalışma daha önce çalışılmamış özgün bir çalışmadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, yetişkinlerde sosyal ilişki gereksinimi ile sosyal medya kullanımı arasındaki ilişkiyi Özerklik Teorisi kapsamında incelemektir. Çalışma ilişkisel tarama modeliyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Örneklem, ulaşılabilirlik yöntemi ile oluşturulmuştur. İstanbul Avrupa yakasında 15 okulun velilerinden 314 kadın, 286 erkek olmak üzere toplam 600 kişiye ulaşılmıştır. Veri toplamak amacıyla bir adet anket formu, Sosyal İlişki Gereksinimi Ölçeği ve Sosyal Medya Kullanım Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Uygulama çevrim içi olarak yapılmış, veriler SPSS programında değerlendirilmiştir. Analizlerde frekans dağılımı, t testi, ANOVA, Pearson korelasyon analizi ve basit doğrusal regresyon istatistik analizi teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Çalışan, yeni evli ve eğitim seviyesi düşük olan bireylerin daha fazla sosyal ilişki gereksinimi gösterdikleri belirlenmiştir. Erkekler, eğitim düzeyi yüksek olan ve uzun süre evli olan bireyler ise sosyal medyayı daha fazla kullanmaktadır. Sosyal ilişki gereksinimi ile sosyal medya kullanımı arasında pozitif ve anlamlı ilişki bulunmuştur. Sosyal ilişki gereksinimi sosyal medya kullanımını yordamaktadır. Bulguları destekleyecek benzer çalışmaların yapılması önerilmiştir.

Relationship between the Need for Relatedness and Social Media Use in Adults

Öz

The use of social media has been increasingly widespread. One of the reasons why individuals use social media may be to meet their need for relatedness. Studies on the need for relatedness are limited in Turkish literature. This is an original study that examines the relationship between the need for relatedness and social media use in adults. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the need for relatedness and the social media use based on The Self-Determination Theory. The sample consisted of 600 people, 314 women and 286 men. A questionnaire, Turkish form of The Need for Relatedness Scale (NRS-10) and Social Media Use Scale (SMUS-8) were applied to the sample group as online. T-test, One Way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analyzes and linear regression analyzes statistical techniques were used. Individuals who are employed, newly married and have low education levels need more social relatedness. Men, individuals with higher education levels and those who have been married for a long time use social media more. There was a positive and significant correlation between the need for relatedness and the social media use. Additionally, the need for relatedness positively predicted social media use. It is suggested that similar studies have to be done to bolster the findings.
