In this approach, management solve their conflict problems by relying on formal authority and classical organizational restructuring. The new assumptions, however, suggest that conflict is inevitable, integral to the nature of the change, determined by structural factors such as physical shape of a building, the design of career structure or the nature of a class system and a minimal level of the conflict is optimal.
