In this study, the perceived characteristics of the accounting profession and perspectives of society towards it are investigated by examining Turkish novels. In the novels analyzed, it is observed that to work in this profession, no training requirements were sought for those who do not participate in the profession as an expert. Those who practice the profession work for long periods of time, with very low salaries, and their minds are negatively affected by spending so much time with numbers. Despite performing a risky business, accountants are not ascribed the value they deserve by either the society or their employers.
