Using Scientific Illustration in the Visualization Process of Digital Game Design: The Case of Science Education

Abstract

This study was conducted using the case study approach, one of the qualitative research methods. The research examined the function of scientific illustration in the visualization process of digital game design. In this context, different game projects were taken as case studies; the relationship between scientific accuracy, aesthetic expression, and the transfer of visual information was analyzed. The study was conducted based on an art-based research method; visual materials emerging during the illustration production process were evaluated as qualitative data. The findings reveal that scientific illustration is not only a tool for conveying information but also a form of expression that enriches the perception of reality and the aesthetic experience in game worlds. The research also highlights the educational and cultural contribution potential of digital production practices in this field, which lies at the intersection of art and science.
