Bibliometric Analysis of Master's Theses in the Field of Landscape Architecture in Türkiye
Abstract
This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric and content analysis of master’s theses in the field of Landscape Architecture in Türkiye. A total of 1,961 theses completed between 1985 and 2023 were systematically retrieved from the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education and classified into 12 main study areas defined by the ECLAS Guidance (2010) and EU-Land21 Project (2018). The classification was based on thesis titles, abstracts, and keywords, with secondary topics further identified to capture disciplinary diversity. Descriptive statistics were used to examine distributions across years, universities, supervisors, and authors’ gender, while regression and time-series analyses identified temporal trends. Findings revealed a significant upward trend in thesis production, with Urban Landscape Planning and Design emerging as the most represented field, while topics such as cultural landscapes and sustainability gained prominence in recent decades. The study highlights evolving academic priorities and research gaps, providing valuable insights for the future development of Landscape Architecture education and research in Türkiye.
