Bibliometric Analysis of Master's Theses in the Field of Landscape Architecture in Türkiye

Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric and content analysis of master’s theses in the field of Landscape Architecture in Türkiye. A total of 1,961 theses completed between 1985 and 2023 were systematically retrieved from the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education and classified into 12 main study areas defined by the ECLAS Guidance (2010) and EU-Land21 Project (2018). The classification was based on thesis titles, abstracts, and keywords, with secondary topics further identified to capture disciplinary diversity. Descriptive statistics were used to examine distributions across years, universities, supervisors, and authors’ gender, while regression and time-series analyses identified temporal trends. Findings revealed a significant upward trend in thesis production, with Urban Landscape Planning and Design emerging as the most represented field, while topics such as cultural landscapes and sustainability gained prominence in recent decades. The study highlights evolving academic priorities and research gaps, providing valuable insights for the future development of Landscape Architecture education and research in Türkiye.

Türkiye’de Peyzaj Mimarlığı Alanında Yapılan Yüksek Lisans Tezlerinin Bibliyometrik Analizi

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Türkiye’de peyzaj mimarlığı alanında hazırlanmış yüksek lisans tezlerinin kapsamlı bir bibliyometrik ve içerik analizini sunmaktadır. Yükseköğretim Kurulu (YÖK) Ulusal Tez Merkezi veritabanından elde edilen 1985–2023 yılları arasında tamamlanmış toplam 1.961 tez incelenmiş ve ECLAS (2010) ile EU-Land21 (2018) tarafından tanımlanan bilgi alanları temel alınarak 12 ana çalışma alanı altında sınıflandırılmıştır. Tezlerin sınıflandırılmasında başlık, özet ve anahtar kelimelerden yararlanılmış, ayrıca alt çalışma konuları belirlenerek disiplin içi çeşitlilik ortaya konmuştur. Veriler, yıllara, üniversitelere, danışman unvanlarına ve yazar cinsiyetine göre değerlendirilmiş; zaman serisi ve regresyon analizleri ile eğilimler incelenmiştir. Bulgular, tez üretiminde anlamlı bir artış olduğunu göstermekte; Kentsel Peyzaj Planlama ve Tasarımı en fazla temsil edilen alan olurken, kültürel peyzajlar ve sürdürülebilirlik temalarının son yıllarda öne çıktığı görülmektedir. Çalışma, akademik önceliklerin dönüşümünü ve araştırma boşluklarını ortaya koyarak peyzaj mimarlığı eğitimi ve araştırmalarına geleceğe dönük katkılar sunmaktadır.
