Spatial planning is one of the tools to cope with the problems in today's world and to walk safely into the future. At the point of making the right decisions in spatial planning, scientific, rational, up-to-date, safe, technologically compatible, transparent, and spatially integrated data are needed. In this study, the data used in the spatial planning process of Turkey and the management process affecting these data were evaluated. As an assessment tool, SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) was used SWOT analysis results. The results of the SWOT analysis regarding the spatial planning management process and spatial data show that internal weaknesses and external threats are more. As a result of the study, it is proposed to create a national data system (base) that is based on science and technology, observes international data standards, has data that can be easily updated and is open to stakeholder use.
