MUHASEBE AKADEMİSYENLERİNİN KİŞİLİK ÖZELLİKLERİNİN İŞ PERFORMANSLARI ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİSİ

Öz

Kişilik özellikleri, kalıtımsal ve çevresel faktörlere bağlı olarak farklılık göstermektedir. Kişilik özelliklerindekifarklılıklar, birçok alanda olduğu gibi iş hayatında da bireylerin performansına yansımaktadır. Bu çalışmanınamacı, Türkiye’de vakıf ve devlet üniversitelerinde görev yapan muhasebe akademisyenlerinin kişilik özelliklerinin iş performanslarına etkisinin ölçülmesidir. Örneklemin kişilik özelliklerinin tespitinde Beş Faktörlü kişiliktestinden yola çıkılarak oluşturulan sıfatlara dayalı kişilik ölçeği kullanılırken; iş performanslarının ölçümü içinise, son üç yıla ait akademik performans kriterleri dikkate alınmıştır. Ölçeğin veri setine uygunluğu Faktör Analiziile test edilmiş, örneklemin kişilik özellikleri ile iş performansı arasında ilişki olup olmadığını ölçmek için Korelasyon Analizi uygulanmıştır. Kişilik özelliklerinden dışadönüklük boyutu ile iş performansı arasında negatifyönlü, zayıf bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilirken, diğer kişilik boyutları ile iş performansı arasında istatistiksel olarakanlamlı bir ilişki bulunamamıştır

THE EFFECT OF ACCOUNTING ACADEMICIANS’ PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS ON JOB PERFORMANCE

Öz

Personality characteristics differ according to genetic and environmental factors. The differences in personalitycharacteristics reflect to performance of individuals in business life as well as other areas. The aim of this studyis to measure the effect of personality characteristics of accounting academicians- which work in Turkish universities in Turkey-on their job performance. In order to determine the personality characteristics of our samplewe used Adjective Based Personality Scale ABPT that was generated based on Five factor personality test, onthe other hand in order to determine job performance we focused on academic performance criteria for last threeyears. Our questionnaire was tested by factor analysis, and correlation analysis was applied in order to measurethe relationship between personality characteristics of our sample and their job performance. While there was anegative and weak relationship between extraversion dimension and job performance, there was no statisticallysignificant relationship between other personality dimensions and job performance
