It is possible to state that mass media has played an active role in the spread of Islamophobia, which has become a global problem. As a result of this situation, negative discourses towards Islam are increasing and the Muslims face several problems in the social life. Islamophobia, which becomes evident especially in Western societies in this way; becomes apparent in several forms in countries where majority of the population consists of Muslims, like Turkey. Islamophobia is a socio-psychological phenomenon in these countries like in the West, but it rather presents a political appearance. It can be stated that this appearance is shaped within the frame of press-politics relations. In this study, the periods of Turkish political history in which the concepts related to Islam were apparent in written press tools (between 1923-2000) were examined, and the attitudes of press tools related to Islam, Muslims and Islamic concepts were examined. As a result of the research which was prepared with the methods of literature review/evaluation and description, it was expressed that the press in Turkey has produced an Islamophobic discourse/language intertwined with political objectives within the historical process.
