‘Sacred Space: A Phenomenological Approach

Öz

Relationship between spaces and human beings is shaped in terms of

passages between perspectives and not in terms of spatial (geometric and

geographic) differences or divisibility. Accordingly, the distinctive aspect

of ‘sacred space’ is the existence of representation which paves a way to a

consciousness of sacred as ‘the nearest and most distant’ at the same time.

Hence sacred space reveals itself as an experience of temporality of passages

between virtually limitless perspectives of this event of representation

Öz

İnsanlarla mekanlar arasındaki ilişki alansal (geometrik ve coğrafi) ayrımlar

değil, perspektifler arasındaki geçişlilik şeklinde tezahür etmektedir.

Kutsal mekan diye anlaşılan yerin ayırt edici vasfı, kutsalın aynı anda hem

çok yakın hem çok uzak oluşuna dair bilince yol açan bir temsilin varlığı

ve bu temsili oluşturan sonsuz denebilecek perspektifler arasındaki pasaj

durumudur.
