Ottoman history teems with the most pleasant examples of living together. Although the Armenians, that is one of the nations producing this experience, began struggle against the Ottoman Empire with the influence of the nationalist movement occuring following the French Revolution. Russia and Europe also supported them. As a result of Armenians’ cooperation with the Russians during the World War I, resorted to relocation as a result in 1915. After this execution disrupting living together, the return of the Armenians could not be provided in the desired manner. Thus, the Turks and Armenians fell apart from each other whom they had been living for a millenium.

Osmanlı tarihi, birlikte yaşama tecrübesinin en güzel örnekleriyle doludur. Bu tecrübeyi üreten milletlerden birisi olmalarına rağmen Ermeniler, Fransız İhtilali sonrası ortaya çıkan milliyetçilik akımının etkisiyle Osmanlı Devleti’ne karşı mücadeleye girişmişlerdir. Rusya ve Avrupa da onları desteklemiştir. I. Dünya Savaşı sırasında Ermenilerin Ruslarla işbirliği yapmaları üzerine Osmanlı Devleti, çözüm olarak 1915 yılında tehcire başvurmuştur. Birlikte yaşamayı sekteye uğratan bu uygulama sonrası Ermenilerin geri dönüşü ise arzu edildiği biçimde temin edilememiştir. Böylece bin yıldır birlikte yaşayan Türkler ve Ermeniler ayrı düşmüş oldular.
