Etkili Mentörlükte Mentör ve Menti: Mentörlüğe Bakış Açısı, Roller, Mesleki ve Kişisel Özellikler

Öz

Öğretmen yetiştirmede mentörlük, öğretmen adayının mesleki ve kişisel gelişimini sağlaması için deneyimli bir öğretmen tarafından desteklendiği bir süreçtir. Olumlu bir mentörlük sürecinin hem mentiye hem de mentöre mesleki ve psikolojik açıdan katkıları bulunmaktadır. Bu açıdan mentörlük sürecinin etkililiği önemsenmelidir. Mentör ve menti mentörlük sürecinin etkililiğinde önemli olan ögelerdendir. Bu çalışmada etkili bir mentörlük süreci için mentörün ve mentinin sahip olmaları gereken özellikleri ve gerçekleştirmeleri gereken rolleri ortaya koymak ve bunları hizmet öncesi öğretmen yetiştirme bağlamında değerlendirmek amaçlanmıştır. Geleneksel derleme türünde olan bu çalışma, literatür taramasıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Konu ile ilgili ulusal ve uluslararası literatür incelenmiştir. Çalışmada etkili bir mentörlük için hem mentörün hem de mentinin mentörlük sürecine katılmaya istekli olması gerektiği belirlenmiştir. Etkili bir mentörlük süreci için hem mentörün hem de mentinin bazı kişisel ve mesleki özelliklere sahip olmaları gerektiği tespit edilmiştir. Mentörlük sürecinde hem mentörün hem de mentinin birbiriyle ilişkili olan farklı roller gerçekleştirdiği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca araştırmalar, bazı uygulama öğretmenlerinin ve öğretmen adaylarının etkili bir mentörlük süreci için sahip olmaları gereken özellikler ve gerçekleştirmeleri gereken roller açısından yeterli olmadığına ilişkin kanıtlar ortaya koymuştur. Bu doğrultuda hizmet öncesi öğretmen yetiştirme bağlamında mentörlük sürecinin etkililiği için öneriler sunulmuştur.

Mentor and Mentee on Effective Mentoring: Perspective on Mentoring, Roles, Professional and Personal Traits

Öz

Mentoring in teacher training is a process in which the pre-service teacher is supported by an experienced teacher to ensure his/her professional and personal development. A positive mentoring process has professional and psychological contributions to both the mentee and the mentor. In this respect, the effectiveness of the mentoring process should be considered. Mentor and mentee are important elements in the effectiveness of the mentoring process. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the characteristics that the mentor and the mentee should have and the roles they should perform for an effective mentoring process and to evaluate them in the context of pre-service teacher training. This study, which is a traditional review type, was carried out by literature review. National and international literature on the subject has been examined. In the study, it was determined that for an effective mentorship, both the mentor and the mentee should be willing to participate in the mentoring process. It has been determined that for an effective mentoring process, both the mentor and the mentee should have some personal and professional characteristics. It has been determined that both the mentor and the mentee perform different roles that are related to each other in the mentoring process. In addition, studies have revealed evidence that some practice teachers and pre-service teachers are not sufficient in terms of the characteristics they need to have and the roles they need to perform for an effective mentoring process. In this direction, suggestions were presented for the effectiveness of the mentoring process in the context of pre-service teacher training.
