THE OPINIONS OF PRIMARY AND SECONDARY STAGE PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS ABOUT THEIR SCHOOL
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the thoughts of primary and secondary stage students who receive education at a state primary school about administration, education and teaching, teaching materials, physical strcture and social facilities and to detect whether there is a difference between them. The data has been gathered via “Determination questionnaire of primary and secondary stage students’ opinions about their school”. The questionnaire consists of 12 question items that will be answered by marking and 3 with classical way. The survey data is gathered from the results of a questionnaire applied to the 4th, 6th and 8th grade students who receive education at a state school in Ankara province. 90 students constitute the study group of the research. In the of the study, opinions of pupils who receive eduation at a state primary school about their school are revealed. In the end of the study, it has been revealed that in the order of priorities starting with teachers’ behaviors and then the education environment’s being equipped and adequate in terms of both physically and equipments, bringing education and teaching activities into a joyful state according to the expectaitons and learning conditions of students, preventing negative student behaviors etc. circumstances are effective in developing positive attitudes towards school. According to the results of the study, the proposals brought forward are as schools should be retrofitted physically, teachers should be well-supported as to supply with the expectations of pupils pedagocilaly, they should increase the variety of teaching methods anf techniques thus bring the lessons pleasurable and deal with students problems intimately, movement areas should be created in schools for students
