EFFECT OF CREATIVE DRAMA METHOD ON 6TH GRADE STUDENTS’ ATTITUDE TOWARDS TURKISH COURSE

Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine effects of creative drama method on students’ attitudes Turkish course. The research has been applied to the control (n=22) and experiment (n=22) groups with “communication” topic of Turkish course on sixth grade students of Haşim İşcan Primary School in Erzurum. In this research, “The Turkish Language Course attitude scale” that is in the Turkish Course Teaching Programme and Guideline used as a means of collection. The study has been conducted as an experimental study appropriate to “the model of pre-test post-test with control group” which effects of creative drama method on students’ attitudes of Turkish course has been examined. SPSS 15.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences 15.0) computer programme has been used in analyse of research’ data. To determine the significance of the data obtained within study; t-test for the paired groups, t-test, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests have been applied. The research shows that attitudes of experimental students, which creative drama method has been applied, towards Turkish course are more positive than other students which traditional method has been applied. In addition, it has been observed that there is a serious time problem while creative drama activities are applied and there is less time for other required activities in Turkish course consequently a strict planning process should be applied for this method. Besides, it has been determined that gender and parents’ education level do not have a meaningful effect on attitudes towards Turkish course in application of creative drama method.

YARATICI DRAMA YÖNTEMİNİN İLKÖĞRETİM 6. SINIF ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN TÜRKÇE DERSİ TUTUMLARINA ETKİSİ

Öz

Araştırmanın amacı yaratıcı drama yönteminin öğrencilerin Türkçedersi tutumlarına etkisini belirlemektir. Araştırma, Erzurum ilindeki Haşimİşcan İlköğretim Okulunda 6. sınıf düzeyinde Türkçe dersi “İletişim” temasıüzerinde deney (n=22) ve kontrol (n=22) gruplarına uygulanmıştır.Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak, Türkçe Dersi Öğretim Programı veKılavuzu’nda yer alan ‘‘Türkçe Dersi Tutum Ölçeği’’ kullanılmıştır. Çalışmayaratıcı drama yönteminin öğrencilerin Türkçe dersi tutumlarına etkisinin incelendiği “kontrol gruplu öntest-sontest modeline” uygun deneysel bir çalışmaolarak yürütülmüştür. Araştırma verilerinin çözümünde bilgisayar ortamındaSPSS 15.0 istatistik paket programı kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada elde edilen verilerin anlamlılığını belirlemek amacıyla t-testi, eşleştirilmiş gruplar için t-testi,Mann-Whitney U ve Kruskal Wallis testleri uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda yaratıcı drama yönteminin uygulandığı deney grubu öğrencilerinin Türkçedersine yönelik tutumlarının geleneksel yöntem uygulanan öğrencilere göredaha olumlu yönde etkilendiği görülmüştür. Bununla birlikte yaratıcı dramaetkinlikleri yapılırken ciddi bir zaman sıkıntısı çekildiği ve Türkçe dersindeyapılması gereken diğer etkinliklere daha az zaman kaldığı, dolayısıyla bu yöntem uygulanırken ciddi bir planlama sürecinin uygulanması gerektiği gözlemlenmiştir. Ayrıca, yaratıcı drama yönteminin uygulanmasında cinsiyet ve ebeveyn eğitim durumlarının Türkçe dersine yönelik tutumlar üzerinde anlamlı biretkisinin bulunmadığı tespit edilmiştir
