HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF TURKISH AND LITERATURE TEACHING IN SECONDARY EDUCATION FROM THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF REPUBLIC TO TODAY

Öz

With the era of republic, there started a birthday in Turkish and literature teaching. The pioner of this was, undoubtedly, Atatürk, the greatest lover of Turkish and of being a Turk in 1928, with the acceptance of the new Turkish alphabet important steps were taken in Turkish and literature teaching as in all the teaching fields; rare attempts, were not regarded sufficient and more efficient steps were taken. However, apart from these positive developments, Turkish and literature teaching, at some times, was neglected because of various reasons. In this writing, the historical progression of Turkish and literature teaching in secondary education is narrated.
