THE COMPARISON OF COURSE HEFTTS IN TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMS

Abstract

The aim of the study is to compare the ration of the courses in teacher training programs from past to present. In parallel with the study, from “Darulmuallimin” – a kind of school training teachers in Ottoman age – to teaching schools, from Village Institutes to primary teaching schools, from educational institutes to educational faculties the process is an indicator of the tradition of teacher training in our country. Therefore, it is needed to convert experience and knowledge to policy of training ideal teachers. However, frequent change of the models, the new comers’ ignorance of predecessors, and inability to convert the changes into practice lead us to conclude that we don’t have a teacher training model special to Turkey. In the study, we used document analysis as a qualitative research method. We compared the ration of the courses in teacher training programs according to frequency, mean, and percentage distributions. In this scope, we compared the rations of the courses in the programs of education high schools, institute of education, village institutes, teaching schools, art teacher high school for girls, art teacher high school for boys, technical teacher high school, trade and tourism teacher high school, technical teacher high school for girls, Educational Institute of Gazi, teaching high school, and faculty of education. The programs of teacher training faculties were conducted via teaching knowledge, special field and general knowledge courses. Besides the average distribution of the courses differs according to the programs, it contains 50-60% field knowledge, 25-30% teaching knowledge and 15-20% general knowledge. The findings of the study may contribute to educational policy-makers’ and the teacher training institutes’ efforts about developing teacher training program special to Turkish educational system

ÖĞRETMEN YETİŞTİRME PROGRAMLARINDAKİ DERS AĞIRLIKLARININ KARŞILAŞTIRILMASI

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı, geçmişten günümüze öğretmen yetiştirme programlarındaki ders ağırlıklarının karşılaştırılmasıdır. Çalışmanın amacı doğrultusunda, Dârulmuallimînden muallim mekteplerine, köy enstitülerinden ilk öğretmen okullarına, eğitim enstitülerinden eğitim fakültelerine uzanan bu süreç, ülkemizde bir öğretmen yetiştirme geleneğinin oluştuğunun göstergesidir. Bu nedenle tecrübe ve bilgi birikiminin, ideal öğretmeni yetiştirme politikasına dönüştürülmesi gerekmektedir. Ancak sıkça model değişiklikleri, yeni gelenin kendisinden öncekini tamamen yok sayması ve değişikliklerin uygulamaya dönüştürülememesi bizi hâlâ Türkiye’ye özgü bir öğretmen yetiştirme modelinin oluşmadığı sonucuna götürmektedir. Çalışmada, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman analizi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler üzerinden frekans, aritmetik ortalama ve yüzde dağılımlarına göre öğretmen yetiştirme programlarının ders ağırlıklarının karşılaştırması yapılmıştır. Bu kapsamda; eğitim yüksekokulu, eğitim enstitüsü, köy enstitüsü, öğretmen okulu, kız sanat yüksek öğretmen okulu, erkek sanat yüksek öğretmen okulu, yüksek teknik öğretmen okulu, ticaret turizm yüksek öğretmen okulu, kız teknik yüksek öğretmen okulu, Gazi Eğitim Enstitüsü, yüksek öğretmen okulu ve eğitim fakültesi programlarının ders ağırlıkları karşılaştırılmıştır.Öğretmen yetiştiren fakültelerin programları; öğretmenlik bilgisi, özel alan ve genel bilgi derslerinin ağırlıkları karşılaştırılmıştır. Ders ağırlıklarının ortalama dağılımları programlara göre farklılık göstermekle birlikte oransal olarak %50-60 alan bilgisi, %25-30 öğretmenlik meslek bilgisi ve %15-20 genel kültür derslerini içermektedir. Çalışmada elde edilen bulgular, eğitim politikacılarının ve öğretmen yetiştiren kurumların Türk eğitim sistemine özgü öğretmen yetiştirme programı geliştirme çalışmalarına katkı sağlayabilir
