Walter Siehe’s enigma: lost species of Siehe!

Öz

In scope of this study, road map of Walther Siehe who lived in Turkey during 25 years in the early 1900s and added great contribution to Flora of Turkey was put forward. Chionodoxa siehei and Verbascum rupicola were discovered by Walter Siehe and only known from the type localities. In spite of revisional and flora studies, these plants were not collected again from the type locality up to date. Recent years, rediscovered both species in İzmir that is far away from their type localities in records of Walter Siehe. Consequently, confusion in the records of plant collecting localities of Walter Siehe are demonstrated in this study

Walter Siehe Bilmecesi: Siehe’nin Kayıp Türleri

Öz

Bu çalışma kapsamında 1900’lü yılları başında, 25 yıl süre ile Türkiye’de yaşayan ve Türkiye Florasına büyük katkıları olan Walter Siehe’nin yol haritası ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Chionodoxa siehei ve Verbascum rupicola Walter Siehe tarafından keşfedilmiş ve sadece tip lokalitelerinde bilinen bitkilerdir. Söz konusu bitkilere yönelik revizyona ve flora çalışmalarına rağmen tip lokalitelerinde bir daha toplanamamışlardır. Son yıllarda bu iki bitki Walter Siehe'nin kayıtlarında verilen tip lokalitelerinden oldukça uzağında olan İzmir’de tekrardan keşfedilmişlerdir. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışmada Walter Siehe' nin lokalite kayıtlarında karışıkların olduğunu ortaya konulmuştur
