Ekolojik Yıkımın Ayak İzleri: Dark Waters Filminde Antroposen'in Temsili

Öz

İnsan ve doğa arasındaki ilişkinin kapsamı ve biçimi, belirli dönemsel koşulların etkisiyle şekillenmektedir. İnsanlık tarihini temel alan tüm tarihselleştirme ve dönemselleştirme girişimleri, insan-doğa arasındaki ilişkiye dair zihniyetin de tarihçesini gözler önüne sermektedir. Bu noktada Antroposen düşüncesinin insan-doğa ilişkisine dair sunmuş olduğu perspektif önem arz etmektedir. En temelde zamansal bir döneme karşılık gelen Antroposen yani “İnsan Çağı” kavramı, insanlığın doğayla kurmuş olduğu ilişkinin türevlerinin de son halkasını temsil etmektedir. Zamansal olduğu kadar aynı zamanda politik bir dönemselleştirmeye de karşılık gelen Antroposen düşüncesi, insanın doğaya vermiş olduğu tahribatın, ekolojik zararların ve çevresel dönüşümün de bir cevap arayışı olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Yapılmış olan bu çalışmanın amacı Antroposen düşüncesinin etkisinin ve mevcudiyetinin sinemaya yansımasını ortaya koymaktır. Çalışma kapsamında 2019 yılında yönetmen Todd Haynes tarafından yönetilen Dark Waters filmi, sinemada Antroposen düşüncesinin temsili ve ekolojik sonuçlarını ortaya koymak açısından doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılarak incelenmiştir.

Footprints of Ecological Destruction: Representations of the Anthropocene in The Dark Waters Movie

Öz

The scope and form of the relationship between humans and nature are shaped by the influence of certain periodic conditions. All attempts at historicization and periodization based on human history also reveal the history of the mentality regarding the relationship between humans and nature. At this point, the perspective offered by the concept of Anthropocene on the human-nature relationship is important. The notion of Anthropocene, or the “Human Age” concept, which basically corresponds to a temporal period, also represents the last link in the derivatives of the relationship that humanity has established with nature. The idea of the Anthropocene, which corresponds to a political periodization as well as a temporal one, is evaluated as a search for an answer to the destruction, ecological damage and environmental transformation that humans have inflicted on nature. The aim of this study is to reveal the reflection of the effect and existence of the Anthropocene idea on cinema. Within the scope of the study, the film Dark Waters, shot by director Todd Haynes in 2019, was analyzed using the document analysis method in order to reveal the representation of the Anthropocene idea in cinema and its associated ecological consequences.
