Awareness Levels of Faculty of Education Academic Staff Regarding Higher Education Culture

Öz

Since higher education institutions are organizational institutions, to achieve certain goals such as development, keeping up with the times, globalization, etc. and at the same time to carry their institutional identities further, they should also give importance to improving the quality of their existing academic staff. To achieve these goals, concepts such as awareness of higher education culture and academic culture are important for enhancing institutional productivity. In this context, the purpose of this study is to investigate the awareness of academic staff in eight different departments in the Faculty of Education of a state university about higher education culture. A total of 108 lecturers participated in the study on a voluntary basis. It is a quantitative study and the "Higher Education Culture" scale developed by Karsantık and Çetin (2020) was used as a data collection tool. The obtained data were analyzed with the SPPS v26 program, and in line with the findings obtained, it was determined that most of the participants' views on higher education culture were at the "medium" level and at the "high" level in the basic assumptions sub-dimension.

Eğitim Fakültesi Öğretim Elemanlarının Yükseköğretim Kültürüne Yönelik Farkındalık Düzeyleri

Öz

Yükseköğretim kurumlarının birer örgütsel kurum olmaları nedeniyle, gelişim, çağa ayak uydurma, küreselleşme, vb. birtakım hedeflere erişmek ve aynı zamanda da kurumsal kimliklerini daha ileriye taşımak için, mevcut öğretim elemanı kadrolarının kalitesinin artırılmasına da önem vermeleri gerekmektedir. Bu hedeflere ulaşma konusunda, verimliliğin artırılması gerektiğinden, yükseköğretim kültürü farkındalığı ve akademik kültür bilinci gibi kavramlar önem ihtiva etmektedir. Bu bağlamda, bu araştırmanın amacı, bir devlet üniversitesinin Eğitim Fakültesinde’ki sekiz farklı bölümdeki öğretim elemanlarının, yükseköğretim kültürü ile ilgili farkındalıklarını araştırmaktır. Araştırmaya toplam 108 öğretim elamanı gönüllülük esasına göre katılmıştır. Nicel bir çalışma olup, veri toplama aracı olarak Karsantık ve Çetin’in (2020) geliştirmiş olduğu “Yükseköğretim Kültürü” ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPPS v26 programı ile analiz edilmiş olup, elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda katılımcıların büyük çoğunluğunun yükseköğretim kültürü ile ilgili görüşlerinin “orta” düzeyde, temel varsayımlar alt boyutunda ise “yüksek” düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
