ERGONOMIC ANALYSIS OF ASSEMBLY LINES IN AN ELECTRONICS COMPANY
Abstract
Productivity is one of the most important
factors affecting the profitability and market share in today's highly
competitive business environment. Ergonomic evaluation of production facilities
is a must for the achievement of productivity targets. In this study, a
three-phase approach is proposed for the ergonomic evaluation of main assembly
lines of an electronics company. Main assembly lines were analyzed in the first
phase by using three different ergonomic evaluation methods. In the second
phase, multi-criteria decision making techniques were used in order to
determine the line with the worst ergonomic conditions. Time study was used in
the third phase for the determination of non-value added times of the lines.
The relationship between ergonomic conditions and non-value added times was
determined by carrying out a correlation analysis. It has been concluded that
insufficient ergonomic conditions increase non-value added times.
