THE SIMILARITY AND DIFFERENCES OF PROJECT BASED LEARNING AND PROBLEM BASED LEARNING

Öz

New learning approaches effect the education programmes in practice basically. As a matter of fact, it is seen that a new shape is being given to the programmes in practice today as the learner-centered approaches are adopted. The learner's participation personally in the learning activities, and organising what he/she has learnt by him /herself is the necessity of constructive (yapılandırıcı) learning. This approach is the inspration of the Project based learning and problem based learning. However, there is a complexity between the similarities and differences of these approaches although a lot of methods (approaches) come out in the sense of learning philosophy. When studied the researches associated with the process of learning – teaching, the Project based learning and the problem based learning concepts substitute each other in most cases/ places. To avoid this dilemma in this frame and the others like this will help to plan the education- teaching activities and to recognize them. This research has been made to identify the differences and similarities of these two approaches. Thus, the fact that which approach will be used effectively in which scientific field has been tried to be clear.
