THE NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF ENERGY DISSIPATION OF STEPPED SPİLLWAYS
Öz
ABSTRACT Stepped spillways are constructed to the big ratio energy dissipation of flow and decrease the dimensions of stilling basin located downstream of the spillway. Especially, for the last thirty years with the growing barrage built techniques (roller compacted concrete dam method i.e.), popularity of the stepped spillways are increased. It is possible that, thus spillways are dissipate the energy of flow %70-%80 rate more than classical spillways. In this study, energy dissipation ratios of different spillway slopes were determined by numerical methods. At the study, as a numerical method, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method was used. The results of the study compared with experimental studies. It is concluded that, the results of numerical studies data very close to results of experimental data.
