Öz

Bu çalışma, alkol ve sigara kullanımının, spor ve fiziksel aktivitelere katılan üniversite öğrencilerinin spora katılım ve spora yönelik güdülenme düzeyleri ile olan ilişkisini belirleyebilmek amacı ile yapılmıştır. Çalışmada, Sporda Güdülenme Ölçeği'nin (Pelletier ve ark., 1999) yanı sıra spora katılım düzeyi ile alkol ve sigara kullanım davranışını belirlemek için bir anket kullanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, alkol kullanımının erkeklerde daha yaygın olduğu; spora katılım düzeyi arttıkça sigara kullanımı davranışının azaldığı; alkol kullanım davranışı ile spora katılım düzeyi arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olmadığı; sigara içmeyenlerin dışsal güdülenmenin içeatım alt boyutunda sigara içenlere göre daha üst düzeyde güdülendiği bulunmuştur.

TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL USAGE AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS PARTICIPATING SPORTS: IT'S ASSOCIATION WITH SPORTS PARTICIPATION AND SPORT MOTIVATION

Öz

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of alcohol and cigarette usage with sport participation and sport motivation among university students participating in sport and physical activities. The Sport Motivation Scale (Pelletier et. al., 1999) and a questionaire to determine sport participation level, alcohol and cigarette usage, and demographics were used in the study. In addition to the Sport Motivation Scale (Pelletier et. al., 1999), a questionaire was applied to determine sport participation level and, alcohol and cigarette usage were used in the study. As a result it is determined that; the level of alcohol consumption is more common in male students; the level of cigarette consumption decreases as the participation level in sports increases; there is no significant differance between the alcohol consumption behaviour and the participation level of sports and physical activities, but when the females' participation level in sports increases, their level of alcohol consumption behaviour decreases; the students who do not smoke cigarette are motivated more in introjected dimension of external motivation.
