Öz

Dans cet ouvrage l’auteur a pour intention de montrer que l’extension territoriale de l’empire Ottoman au 16ème siècle et la géographie sont intimement liées,
soit que l’un provoqua l’autre ou le rendit nécessaire. Cette hypothèse de départ
est défendue tout au long du livre par la présentation chronologique des ouvrages
de géographie ou à contenu géographique qui furent rédigés à Istanbul. Dans le
premier chapitre, P. Emiralioğlu défend l’idée que les projets impériaux ottomans
sont les conséquenes des interactions politiques entre l’empire Ottoman avec,
d’une part, les Habsbourg, et d’autre part les Séfévides.
