Pragmatik sendikacılık akımında iklim krizi stratejileri: AFL-CIO örneği

Öz

Temelde sıcaklık anomalilerinin beklenenden hızlı artması ile tanımlanan iklim krizi sorunu, 21. yy’ın ilk çeyreğinde çok yönlü ve karmaşık bir soruna dönüşmüştür. Bu gelişme iklim krizine ile mücadele politikalarını her zamankinden daha önemli hale getirmiştir. Bu nedenle çalışma, iklim krizinin çalışma hayatına etkilerine karşı yürütülen/yürütülecek olan sendikal stratejilere farklı bir bakış açısı sunma amacı taşımaktadır. Bugüne kadar yürütülen kapsamlı ve uzun vadeli stratejilerin başarısızlığı; daha pratik, esnek ve kısa vadeli pragmatik yaklaşımları cazip kılmaktadır. Bu nedenle çalışma, iklim pragmatizmi kavramı çerçevesinde ve günümüzde pragmatik geleneğin önemli bir örneği olan AFL-CIO özelinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Dolayısıyla çalışmada “değerlendirici örnek olay yöntemi” en ideal yöntem olarak benimsenmiştir. Sonuç olarak iklim krizinin çalışma hayatına olumsuz etkileri kaçınılmazdır. Bu etkiler ile mücadelede pragmatik stratejiler en ideal stratejiler olarak görülmektedir. Pragmatik stratejilerde pazarlık, en etkin araç olma özelliğini korumaktadır. Pazarlığın hem bireysel hem de toplu düzeyde güçlendirilmesi değişim/dönüşüm sürecinin oluşturacağı yükün ve refahın adil dağılımında büyük önem taşımaktadır.

Climate crisis strategies in pragmatic trade union movement: AFL-CIO example

Öz

The climate crisis problem, which is basically defined by the faster-than-expected increase in temperature anomalies, has turned into a multifaceted and complex problem in the first quarter of the 21st century. This development has made policies to struggle the climate crisis more important than ever. For this reason, this study aims to offer a different perspective on union strategies that have been/will be carried out against the effects of the climate crisis on working life. Failure of comprehensive and long-term strategies implemented to date; It makes more practical, flexible and short-term pragmatic approaches attractive. For this reason, this study was carried out within the framework of the concept of climate pragmatism and specifically in the AFL-CIO, which is an important example of the pragmatic approach today. Therefore, the "evaluative case study method" was adopted as the most ideal method in this study. As a result, the negative effects of the climate crisis on working life are inevitable. Pragmatic strategies are seen as the most ideal strategies in struggling these effects. In pragmatic strategies, bargaining remains the most effective tool. Strengthening bargaining at both individual and collective levels is of great importance in the fair distribution of the burden and prosperity created by the change/transformation process.
