İlkokul birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin yazı farkındalığı ve temel yazma becerilerinin incelenmesi

Öz

Araştırmanın amacı, ilkokul birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin yazı farkındalığı ve temel yazma becerilerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmada betimsel tarama yöntemi tercih edilmiştir. Çalışma grubu, Ankara’da ilkokul birinci sınıfa devam eden 116 (56 kız / 60 erkek) öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Veri toplamak için Erken Okuryazarlık Gelişimini Belirleme Aracı’nda (EGBA) yer alan Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Yazı Farkındalığı Testi, Temel Yazma Becerileri Testi isimli ölçekler kullanılmıştır. Yazı Farkındalığı Testi’nde 15 madde; Temel Yazma Becerileri Testi’nde ise 16 test madde mevcuttur. Bu testlerin değerlendirme ölçütleri düşük, orta ve yüksek şeklindedir. Gerekli izinler alındıktan sonra bu testler her öğrenciye bireysel olarak toplam dört farklı oturumda uygulanmıştır. Verilerin normallik sayıltısını karşılayıp karşılamadığı kontrol edilmiş, Kolmogorov-Smirnov ve Shapiro-Wilk testleri yapılmıştır. Yazı Farkındalığı Ölçeği ve Temel Yazma Becerileri Ölçeğinden alınan puanların çarpıklık-basıklık katsayıları incelenerek normallik durumuna karar verilmiştir. Buna göre normal dağılım gösteren değişkenlerin analizinde Bağımsız Örneklemler t Testi ve ANOVA; normal dağılım göstermeyen değişkenin analizinde Mann Whitney-U Testi ve Kruskal Wallis-H Testi yapılmıştır. Analizler sonucunda ilkokul birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin yazı farkındalığının orta düzeyden az bir puan farkı ile yüksek düzeyi gösterdiği; temel yazma becerilerinin yüksek düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bir başka sonuca göre ilkokul birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin temel yazma becerileri ve yazı farkındalığının cinsiyet değişkenine göre anlamlı farklılık göstermediği ortaya çıkmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan ilkokul birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin yazı farkındalığı ve temel yazma becerilerinin okul öncesi eğitim alma değişkeni bağlamında anlamlı farklılık gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmanın bir diğer sonucunda göre ilkokul birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin yazı farkındalığının sosyo-ekonomik düzeye göre anlamlı olarak farklılık göstermektedir.

An investigation of primary school first-grade students' print awareness and basic writing skills

Öz

The aim of the study is to examine the print awareness and basic writing skills of first grade primary school students. The descriptive scanning method was preferred in the study. The study group consists of 116 (56 girls / 60 boys) first grade primary school students in Ankara. The Personal Information Form, Print Awareness Test, and Basic Writing Skills Test scales in the Early Literacy Development Determination Tool (ELDD) were used to collect data. There are 15 items in the Print Awareness Test and 16 test items in the Basic Writing Skills Test. The evaluation criteria of these tests are low, medium and high. After the necessary permissions were obtained, these tests were applied to each student individually in a total of four different sessions. It was checked whether the data met the normality assumption, and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests were performed. The normality status was decided by examining the skewness-kurtosis coefficients of the scores obtained from the Print Awareness Scale and Basic Writing Skills Scale. Accordingly, Independent Samples t Test and ANOVA were used in the analysis of variables showing normal distribution; Mann Whitney-U Test and Kruskal Wallis-H Test were used in the analysis of variables not showing normal distribution. As a result of the analyses, it was determined that the print awareness of the first grade primary school students showed a high level with a difference of less than a medium level; and that their basic writing skills were at a high level. According to another result, it was revealed that the basic writing skills and print awareness of the first grade primary school students did not show a significant difference according to the gender variable. It was determined that the print awareness and basic writing skills of the first grade primary school students participating in the study showed a significant difference in the context of the variable of receiving pre-school education. According to another result of the study, the print awareness of the first grade primary school students differed significantly according to the socio-economic level.
