Evaluation of Valdai Speech of Vladimir Putin In the Context of Political Discourse and Psychology
Abstract
In this study, some particular sections from the enormously reacted and inspiring speech in the world especially West which the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin made within the framework of the Valdai Club meeting in Sochi on 24 October 2014 and It will be subjected to discourse analysis. After the discourse is defined, explanations about the approaches referred in the discourse analysis will be done. Discourse analysis will be discussed in the context of the teachings of International relations. In the light of these explanations, this statement will be analyzed through hermeneutical approach and constructivist teaching and in this respect, some clues will be tried to be captured about Putin's personal and social life, the psychological structure and the ideology he followed. Individuals with intellectual and mental pattern can not be considered detached from the social and historical context and for this reason in this study, the historical process that the Russian society spent and spirit shaped by this process will be discussed from time to time. Also, the reflections of them on Putin will be analyzed.
This study in which Putin's psychological dilemma will be examined with discourse analysis carries the aim of illustrating to what extent the subconscious influences the discourse, how the imprisonment of national psychosis and neurosis in the individual's spirit settles at the bottom texts of the discourse with this actual speech.
