Göreceli mi Mutlak Kazanç mı: Trump Başkanlığı Döneminde ABD-Almanya İlişkilerinin Teorik Bir Analizi

Öz

Bu çalışmada neorealizm ve neoliberalizm teorilerinden hareketle 2017-2021 Trump dönemi ABD-Almanya ilişkileri incelenmektedir. Çalışmanın ana yöntemi olarak söylem analizi (İng. discourse analysis) belirlenmiştir. Bu metodun seçilmesinin ana sebebinin özellikle Trump döneminde liderin açıklamalarının, röportajlarının, resmi bildirilerinin ikili ilişkilerde önemli bir rol oynamasıdır. Dolayısıyla liderler etrafında gelişen siyasi ilişkilerin anlamlandırılabilmesi adına söylem analizinin gerekli olduğu varsayımıyla hareket edilmektedir. Çalışmada liderlerin söylemleri üzerinden araştırılacak temel araştırma sorusu, Trump döneminde Almanya ile ilişkilerde saldırgan neorealizmin öne sürdüğü bir biçimde göreceli kazancın mı yoksa neoliberallerin iddia ettiği gibi karşılıklı kazan-kazan yani mutlak kazanç beklentisinin mi belirleyici olduğu sorusudur.

Relative or Absolute Gain: A Theoretical Analysis of US-Germany Relations under the Trump Presidency

Öz

In this study, the US-Germany relations during the Trump era (2017-2021) are examined through the lens of neorealism and neoliberalism theories. Discourse analysis has been chosen as the primary method for this research. The main reason for selecting this method is the significant role leaders' statements, interviews, and official declarations played in bilateral relations, especially during the Trump era. Therefore, it is assumed that discourse analysis is necessary to understand political relations shaped around leaders. The core research question investigated through the leaders' discourses is whether the relations during the Trump era were determined by relative gains suggested by offensive neorealism, or by mutual absolute gains as argued by neoliberals.
