Application of Full Factorial Design to Coal Cleaning by MGS
Abstract
In this study, physical cleaning of Cayirhan region’s low-quality, high ash and sulphur content lignites was investigated. Cleaning of coal was done with MGS and the effects of drum speed, shake frequency and shake amplitude parameters on ash and combustible recovery of obtained clean coal was examined. Experiments carried out in this study was performed with using full factorial design and results were evaluated using statistical methods.
At optimum conditions %52,81 ash content was obtained with %61.65 combustible recovery from about %75 ash contented feed.
With statistical analysis, mathematical models were obtained for both ash and combustible recovery in a good agreement with experimental values. (R2 values of 0.79 and 0.98 for ash content and combustible recovery respectively) In addition, for both ash content and combustible recovery, drum speed is the parameter that contributes most to the separation efficiency of the device. However, studied levels of shake amplitude was statistically in insignificant at the 95% confidence interval.
