Common Parenting Experiences After Contested Divorce: A Phenomenological Study

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 26 Sayı: Özel Sayı, 1621 - 1649, 30.12.2025

With increasing divorce rates, co-parenting practices gain importance in terms of children's development and parents' psychological adjustment. In this qualitative study, the co-parenting experiences of parents with children between the ages of 0-18 who have experienced a contentious divorce were examined. A phenomenological design was adopted and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 divorced couples (36 parents) selected through criterion sampling. The data were analyzed by content analysis. The findings were organized around four main themes: (i) difficulties in parenting after divorce, (ii) co-parenting communication and cooperation dynamics, (iii) custody and relationship experiences with the child, (iv) psychological processes and social support. This study fills the gap in the national literature on co-parenting after divorce and points to the need to develop psychosocial support and mediation programs for families formed after contested divorce.

Artan boşanma oranlarıyla beraber, birlikte ebeveynlik uygulamaları çocukların gelişimi ve ebeveynlerin psikolojik uyumu açısından önem kazanmaktadır. Bu nitel çalışmada çekişmeli boşanma yaşamış, 0-18 yaş aralığında çocuğu olan ebeveynlerin birlikte ebeveynlik deneyimleri incelenmiştir. Araştırmada fenomenolojik desen benimsenmiş, ölçüt örnekleme ile seçilen 18 boşanmış çift (36 ebeveyn) ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Veriler içerik analizi ile incelenmiştir. Bulgular (i) ebeveynlik davranışlarında ve sorumluluklarında çatışmalar, (ii) birlikte ebeveynlik iletişimi ve iş birliği dinamikleri, (iii) ebeveynlik rolleri, velayet ve çocukla ilişki deneyimleri, (iv) psikolojik süreçler ve sosyal destek olmak üzere dört ana tema etrafında toplanmıştır. Bu çalışma, boşanma sonrası birlikte ebeveynlik alanındaki ulusal yazındaki boşluğu doldurarak, çekişmeli boşanma sonrası oluşan ailelere yönelik psikososyal destek ve arabuluculuk programlarının geliştirilmesi gereğine işaret etmektedir.
