The Sociological Transformation of the Family from Modernity to the Digital Age: Intergenerational Dynamics and Gender

Öz

The family, as one of the institutions that most rapidly and directly responds to transformations in social structures, has entered a process of redefinition in the contemporary world due to changing dynamics. This study theoretically examines the transformation of the family institution in the context of modernization and digitalization through the lens of sociological theories. Based on a literature review, the work centers on the theories of scholars such as Giddens, Beck, Bauman, Hochschild, Butler, and Castells. The study discusses three main themes: individualization resulting from modernization within the family structure, the transformation of gender roles, and the impact of digitalization on intra-family communication and intergenerational interaction. The findings suggest that the family is not in crisis but undergoing a multi-layered process of restructuring. The study proposes rethinking the family not as a fixed model of the past but as a dynamic component of social transformation.

Moderniteden Dijital Çağa Ailenin Sosyolojik Dönüşümü: Kuşaklararası Dinamikler ve Toplumsal Cinsiyet

Öz

Toplumsal yapıların dönüşümüne en hızlı ve doğrudan tepki veren kurumlardan biri olan aile, çağdaş dünyada farklılaşan dinamiklerle birlikte yeniden tanımlanma sürecine girmiştir. Bu çalışma, aile kurumunun modernleşme ve dijitalleşme süreçleriyle geçirdiği dönüşümü sosyolojik kuramlar çerçevesinde kuramsal olarak incelemektedir. Literatür taramasına dayalı çalışmada Giddens, Beck, Bauman, Hochschild, Butler ve Castells gibi düşünürlerin kuramları merkeze alınmıştır. Aile yapısında modernleşmeyle ortaya çıkan bireyselleşme, toplumsal cinsiyet rollerindeki dönüşüm ve dijitalleşmenin aile içi iletişim ile kuşaklararası etkileşime etkileri üç bölümde ele alınmıştır. Bulgular, ailenin kriz içinde değil, çok katmanlı bir yeniden yapılanma sürecinde olduğunu göstermektedir. Çalışma, aileyi geçmişe ait sabit bir model değil, toplumsal dönüşümün dinamik bir bileşeni olarak yeniden düşünmeyi önermektedir.
