Historical Development of Republic of Türkiye–Indonesia Relations
Öz
This study examines the historical and contemporary relations between the Republic of Turkey and Indonesia based on Turkish archival documents. Bilateral ties, which began with the Ottoman Empire’s support for the Aceh Sultanate, institutionalized in the 1950s and developed in cultural, economic, and political fields. Indonesia’s position in Southeast Asia gives it strategic importance for Turkey. Increasing trade in infrastructure, energy, and automotive sectors is supported by mutual investments. Additionally, the number of Indonesian students studying in Turkey through scholarship programs is rising. Humanitarian aid efforts further strengthen the humanitarian aspect of the relationship. This multi-dimensional structure highlights the need for deeper academic analysis. The study is conducted using the document analysis method and is based on Turkish archival sources.
