From Macro-Regionalism to Radical Right Populism: The Case of Lega Nord

Öz

Considering the evolution of the Northern League (Lega Nord) Party, which has an important place in recent Italian politics, it is possible to define it differently. The party has variously been characterized as a macro-regionalist party, a radical right-wing party, and a populist party with a charismatic leader. While the Northern League Party initially pursued a political strategy based on the demand for the separation of the rich Northern Italian regions from the relatively underdeveloped Southern Italian regions, since 2013 it has shifted its focus to nationalist and populist right-wing politics. This study aims to analyse this transformation of the Lega and its relations with other parties.

Makro-Bölgeselcilikten Radikal Sağ Popülizme: Lega Nord Örneği

Öz

Yakın dönem İtalyan siyasetinde önemli bir yeri olan Kuzey Ligi (Lega Nord) Partisi’nin geçirdiği evreler düşünüldüğünde partinin değişik biçimlerde tanımlanması mümkündür. Parti, kimi zaman makro-bölgeselci, kimi zaman radikal sağ, kimi zaman ise popülist ve karizmatik lider partisi olarak ele alınmıştır. Kuzey Ligi Partisi ilk önce zengin Kuzey İtalya Bölgeleri’nin görece daha geri kalmış Güney İtalya bölgelerinden ayrılması talebine dayalı bir politika yürütürken, 2013’den bu yana odağına milliyetçi ve popülist sağ politikaları geçirmiştir. Bu çalışma, Lega’nın geçirdiği bu dönüşümü ve diğer partilerle olan ilişkilerini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır.
