Effect of Addition of Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) Powder to the Diet on Egg Production, Egg Quality and Yolk Color in Quails

Öz

This study aimed to determine the effects of adding different levels tomato powder to the diet as an additive on egg yield, egg quality, and yolk color in laying quails. In the study, a total of 54 female Japanese quails, at the age of 16 weeks, were randomly distributed into 3 treatment groups with 6 replicates, each containing 3 quails. Treatment diets were created by adding tomato powder to the basal diet at levels of 0, 5 and 10 g/kg levels. Quails were fed with treatment diets for 8 weeks as ad-libitum. The addition of tomato powder to the diet did not affect the performance, eggshell, egg interior quality, and yolk L* (lightness) and b* (yellowness) values of quails (P>0.05). Yolk a* (redness) value increased significantly with the addition of tomato powder to the diet (P>0.01). According to the results obtained from the study, tomato powder can be used as a natural additive to improve yolk color (a* value) without affecting performance and egg quality.

Rasyona Domates (Solanum lycopersicum) Tozu İlavesinin Bıldırcınlarda Yumurta Verimi, Yumurta Kalitesi ve Yumurta Sarısı Rengi Üzerine Etkisi

Öz

Bu çalışmada katkı maddesi olarak rasyona farklı dozlarda domates tozu ilavesinin yumurtacı bıldırcınlarda yumurta verimi, yumurta kalitesi ve yumurta sarısı rengi üzerine etkilerini belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada, 16 haftalık yaşta, toplam 54 adet dişi Japon bıldırcını her birinde 3 adet bıldırcın bulunan 6 tekerrürlü 3 muamele grubuna rastgele dağıtılmıştır. Muameleler bazal rasyona 0, 5 ve 10 g/kg seviyelerinde domates tozu ilavesiyle oluşturulmuştur. Bıldırcınlar muamele rasyonları ile 8 hafta boyunca ad-libitum olarak beslenmişlerdir. Rasyona domates tozu ilavesinin bıldırcınların performans, yumurta kabuk, yumurta iç kalitesi ve yumurta sarısı L* (parlaklık) ve b* (sarılık) değerlerine etkisi olmamıştır (P>0.05). Yumurta sarısı a* (kırmızılık) değeri rasyona domates tozu ilavesi ile önemli derecede artmıştır (P>0.01). Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre domates tozu performansı ve yumurta kalitesini etkilemeden yumurta sarısı rengini (a* değeri) iyileştirici doğal katkı maddesi olarak kullanılabilir.
